In the digital age, people will not accept delayed justice: Law Minister
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Haque called on the country's judges to expedite justice in line with the digital world. Judges in Bangladesh also need to speed up the judiciary with this in mind. Judges need to think about how to get things done quickly.
He was speaking at the inaugural function of the 46th and 47th basic training courses for assistant judges and equivalent judges at the Judicial Administration Training Institute in Dhaka on Wednesday.
Speaking as the chief guest, Anisul Haque said, 'The era has changed. You are now the judge of the digital age. Earlier, if there was a delay in the trial, the people would understand themselves by realizing various reasons. But in this digital age, they will not accept the delay in justice.’
Noting that the people want speedy justice, the law minister said, "There is a saying that ‘justice delayed is justice denied.’ You have to coordinate between the two. We have to come to a balance.”
The minister said the government had taken action in response to allegations that medical officers and investigating officers were late in testifying at the trial.
He said, "As part of resolving this problem, measures have been taken to add the mobile numbers of the medical officer and the investigating officer in the chargesheet of the case." This will make it easier to contact them and bring them to court.
'Now we are one step further. That is to inform the date of the case to every witness including the medical officer and the investigating officer through SMS. As a result, they will no longer be able to say that we have not received the news or that I have not been able to come to court. '
The minister said, "Now what the judges have to ensure is that the day the medical officer or the investigating officer or any other witness comes to testify in the court, his testimony should be taken." The judges have to make sure.
Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana, Director General of the Institute of Judicial Administration Training, presided over the ceremony while the Law and Justice Secretary Md. Golam Sarwar delivered his speech.
